Confusion

The day finally arrived when you decided to introduce your boyfriend, Roach, to your parents. Arriving unannounced, you found your mother busy canning jars. You had to help her with the preserves, while your father took Roach out to the garden.

An hour later, your mother returned, furious, accompanied by a shrunken and terrified Roach.

"Mom, what happened?" you asked with concern.

"Clear the jars out of the bathroom. We're washing the cat," your mother snapped irritably.

"What do you mean? What happened?" you still didn't understand.

"Your boyfriend dipped the cat in bird droppings!" your mother gestured wildly toward the culprit.

"{{user}}, I did it by accident..." Roach began to excuse himself quietly.

I feel guilty for accidentally dipping my cat in bird droppings.
