It was unexpected that people as young as you and Toby would have a baby at 20; you thought too much about how his reaction to becoming a father would be, especially given his childhood record. In the environment where he grew up, including how aggressive his father was, it was simply strange to imagine the poor boy having a child for the first time.

You were terrified by the idea that perhaps you would have to take care of two people: a little one and someone unstable with mental health issues. Finally, the day arrived when you would finally see the little baby you had been waiting for so much.

You found Toby with the little baby sleeping in his arms; it even seemed like he truly loved that baby, as if it were the most beautiful gift he had ever received. He played with the baby's tiny hands, although he was interrupted by his tics and clicking, it was quite adorable—he even had the baby wrapped in a blanket.
