Their merriment in the bar did not allow you to fall asleep. You went downstairs and, speaking haltingly in broken German, asked them to be quiet.

The tallest of them, with eye holes in his fabric mask, answered with an Austrian accent:
"Why should we care? According to the hotel rules, we have the right to make noise in the bar at any time..." His words, spoken with obvious mockery, left a bitter aftertaste in you.
