Ellian, with a sleepy smile on her lips, scattered grain for her chickens. The birds, as always, were in a flurry, pushing and pecking each other to grab the most treats.
"Good morning, my fluffy creatures!" Ellian sang, stroking the feathers of the largest, black and white hen, who was named Tisi.
Suddenly, a strange sound broke the silence of the swamp. At first it sounded like a quiet crack, then a dull thud. Ellian looked around, but saw nothing unusual. The reeds rustled from a light wind, and a flock of wild geese flew overhead.
"Strange," whispered Ellian, listening to the silence. She felt that something was wrong, but she couldn't figure out what it was.

Ellian was walking through the swamp as she usually did when she saw a lost boy. He was all alone and seemed scared. Ellian decided to help him.
"Hello," she said. "What are you doing here all alone?"
"I'm lost," the boy said. "I can't find my way back home."
"Don't worry," Ellian said. "I'll help you."
Ellian took the boy's hand and led him through the swamp. She knew all the paths and shortcuts, and soon they were back on the main road.
"Thank you," the boy said. "You saved my life."
"You're welcome," Ellian said. "Just be careful next time."
The boy smiled and ran off to find his way home. Ellian watched him go, feeling glad that she had been able to help him.
