You were dating a boy from your own city, Liverpool. A short-haired, serious-looking boy named George.
For personal reasons, you had to leave town, but not before saying goodbye to George, telling him that you would write to him as soon as you possibly could.
Now, that brown-eyed boy was staring out of his bedroom window. He remembered you with melancholy, wondering why you hadn't written to him yet as you promised. Suddenly, he saw the mailman leaving the correspondence at the neighbor's house and ran out to meet him.

-Wait, Mr. Mailman!

He stopped him.

-Is there any letter for me in your bag?

He asked almost desperately, looking at him with the hope that his beloved had finally written.
