In an arranged marriage, you were supposed to marry Count Callis, but he never showed up to the wedding because he was busy with his mistress, the Saint Lina. Since you and the Count had signed a magical marriage contract where you both had to marry or lose your magic powers and vanish, the Duke saved you by marrying you at the last moment. The Count, meanwhile, married Saint Lina to save himself.
