Izuku Midoriya.

Izuku Midoriya (緑みどり谷や出いず久く Midoriya Izuku ?), also known as Deku (デク Deku ?), is the main protagonist of the manga and anime series My Hero Academia.

Even though Izuku was born without a gift, he managed to catch the attention of the legendary hero All Might and has since become his close student, as well as a student of Class 1-A at the UA Academy. All Might transferred his gift to Izuku, making him the ninth and current user of One For All.

After the Paranormal Liberation War, with Tomura Shigaraki and All For One actively targeting him for his Quirk, he decided to leave UA before finishing his first year to keep his classmates out of danger.

After encouragement and support from his friends, he returns to school and leads the heroes against the villains in a desperate final battle to save the world.

Izuku is a polite and calm young man. In addition to this, when he was younger he used to be very shy due to the fact that he was constantly bullied since childhood for being born without a Quirk, especially in front of Katsuki Bakugo. He is initially shown as an insecure, reserved and unexpressive person. However, after being accepted into UA Academy and facing Bakugo during combat training, he has become more self-confident and brave, to the point of developing leadership skills.
Midoriya is also very diligent and strong-willed. Since he greatly admires heroes and has always dreamed of being one since he was a child, he has a habit of writing down everything he knows about heroes in his notebook, including other UA students.

Due to this practice, Izuku has developed a keen analytical mind and is easily able to form complex plans in very short amounts of time, often taking advantage of his allies' Quirks to set them in motion. This aspect also helps him find ways to counter Quirks used by his opponents. Izuku also has a tendency to overthink anything that catches his attention, leading to endless mumbling on his part (which tends to annoy the people around him quite a bit).

Izuku is a very humanitarian person, and will never hesitate to rescue someone in danger, even if he knows he is not strong enough to do so. Often, he does this on a whim, taking a generally more careless approach. Izuku has also shown to be generous enough to try to help people with personal and emotional problems even if they do not concern him, claiming that a hero is someone who meddles in other people's lives. Izuku's heroic spirit is recognized by many, having gained the loyalty and gratitude of characters who were previously antagonistic to him such as Tenya Iida, Shoto Todoroki, Kota Izumi, etc. Of all the heroes, the "Symbol of Peace", All Might, is the one who has had the greatest impact on his life, with the number one hero having formed most of the goals and beliefs that Izuku has followed since childhood. Many of Izuku's decisions and actions are inspired by his desire to become a hero similar to All Might, and therefore he has a great devotion to him, to the point of collecting various figures and posters related to the hero and emulating various of his features.

Having inherited his Quirk, one of Izuku's current priorities is being able to live up to his idol's legacy, as he is always looking for ways to improve his use of One For All, aware of the immense pressure that is happening to him. greatest hero of all time. Izuku seems to have a more brash and scorching side to him that mostly appears when in combat. This side of him makes him act more like Katsuki, being quite strong and unbreakable, and also having a strong drive towards victory. He has even gone so far as to mock Katsuki when the two fought when he is in this mindset. He states that this is because he sees Katsuki as the embodiment of what someone who strives for victory should be. He has also admitted that he doesn't really like this side of him, and tends to keep it at bay.

Izuku is also a very sentimental boy and prone to letting his emotions get the better of him. This is why he has often let himself be provoked. When Hitoshi Shinso insulted Ojiro, Izuku let himself be provoked and reacted immediately, falling under the power of his Quirk despite having been previously warned not to do so. When he reacts, he tends to take a reckless and imprudent attitude, without measuring the consequences of his actions, in which he almost always ends up harming his body, becoming very injured.

After all the events of the Paranormal Liberation War, Izuku decides to stay away from his friends and loved ones so as not to endanger them and to prevent Tomura Shigaraki and All For One from attacking them. Showing a radical change in his personality, becoming a mature and more serious person.

Izuku also possesses a very empathetic side and has developed a desire to understand the villains he's faced and potentially save them from themselves, even when people around him tell him it's unrealistic. He initially believed Tomura to be nothing more than a madman who wishes to hurt others senselessly, however, after learning about his tragic backstory and feeling his pain in his heart through the connection of One For All with All For One, this reinvigorates his belief that a hero saves people's lives and not kills them. It is because of this that he wishes to know how they became villains in order to prevent possible conflicts.

After the trauma experienced in the war, seeing countless innocent people whose lives were ruined by society, having All For One persecute him for his gift and with the burden of protecting others, Izuku slowly becomes colder and more distant. The overwhelming burden and stress he feels on his shoulders causes him to run directly into the fights, leaving All Might and the rest of the Heroes behind so they don't get hurt. This, increased by his seriousness makes many civilians realize that he does not see himself as a hero.

Izuku Midoriya is a 17-year-old teenager of medium height, he has freckles, messy hair, and in the colored illustrations of the manga, he and eyes are also teal, while in the anime they are dark mint green. He is slim but has a toned body thanks to his training with All Might. He usually wears a black jacket with yellow buttons along with black pants and oversized red shoes with black laces tied with a bow and white soles.

Danger Sensor (危き機き感かん知ち Kiki kanchi ?): The Gift of the fourth user, Hikage Shinomori. This Gift allowed him to detect any potential threats in the surrounding area, giving him the opportunity to react appropriately and quickly, similar to having a sixth sense. The detection of a threat is described by Izuku as a sharp throbbing sensation in the head. This gift was stolen by Tomura during the Final War. Black Whip (黒鞭クロムチ Kuro Muchi?): The Gift of the fifth user, Daigoro Banjo. This Gift allows its user to generate a type of dark ropes from any part of their body, which adhere to objects and surfaces and can be manipulated in any way. It is very useful for grabbing objects at long distances and also improves Izuku's mobility. Smoke Screen (煙えん幕まく Enmaku?): The Gift of the sixth user, En. This Quirk allows him to generate a large amount of smoke that comes out of Izuku's body to confuse the enemy by obstructing their view or create a distraction. Hover (浮ふ遊ゆう Fuyū?): The Gift of the seventh user, Nana Shimura. This Gift allows Izuku to suspend himself in the air. It is unknown if it gives Izuku full mobility while levitating.

Leadership skills: As a result of his great determination, effort, and hard work, Izuku has over time developed skills worthy of a leader and role model. Izuku doesn't seem to realize this, but thanks to his work his peers have begun to feel inspired and motivated by his actions, causing everyone to constantly push their limits.

One for all her body. Although he has yet to demonstrate superhuman speed, immense reflexes, and All Might-level durability, Izuku has shown to be able to properly control a small percentage of One For All's power, using it to enhance his strength, speed, and agility. This Gift allows him to temporarily accumulate a quantity of kinetic energy when repeating the same movement over and over, to release it later.

Detroit Smash (デトロイトスマッシュ Detoroito Sumasshu ?): It's the same super move used by All Might, except that Izuku does it in the form of an uppercut. Delaware Smash (デラウェアスマッシュ Derawea Sumasshu ?): Izuku tenses one of his fingers with his thumb to then release it and create a powerful shock wave. Doing this fractures said finger, which limits the amount of times he can use this move to 10%.

One For All: Full Cowl (ワン・フォー・オール フルカウル Wan Fō Ōru Furu Kauru ?): This technique allows Izuku to activate 5% of One For All throughout his body, letting all of his strength be distributed throughout his body instead of concentrating it in one point. Activating this technique gives him increased strength, speed, mobility, and agility. It also prevents him from breaking his bones when he attacks.
5% Detroit Smash (5 パーセント デトロイトスマッシュ 5 Pāsento Detoroito Sumasshu ?): It is a blow equal to the Detroit Smash but with only 5% of the strength of One For All.
Double Detroit Smash (ダブルデトロイトスマッシュ Daburu Detoroito Sumasshu ?): Izuku and All Might combine their Detroit Smashes into a single devastating charge.[2]
Delaware Smash Air Force (デラウェアスマッシュエアフォース Derawea Sumasshu Eafōsu ?): Deku, while training with All Might, discovers that he can now release pressurized air[3] (using new gloves created by Mei that allow him to retain some damage); he creates this technique using his fingers and launching pressurized air that does not damage his fingers. It is an improved version of the Delaware Smash correctly using its current power percentage.
One For All - 30%: A technique that allows Izuku to use 30% of One For All in his right arm. This percentage was used in conjunction with Melissa Shield's Full Gauntlet, which negated any drawbacks of using One For All at higher percentages. Because of this, it is unknown how this state affects Izuku's body under normal conditions. At 30%, Izuku was able to effortlessly take out security bots with large amounts of wind pressure created by the punch.

One For All - 45%: A technique that allows Izuku to use 45% of One For All. He is only able to bring out this level of power for a short period of time; to prevent it from ruining his body, he activates it just before the moment of impact and deactivates it after the blow.[4]
St. Louis Smash Air Force (セントルイス スマッシュエアフォース Sento Ruisu Sumasshu Eafōsu ?): Izuku arches his leg back and performs a strong vertical roundhouse kick, firing a large blast of compressed air.

One For All - 100%: A technique that allows Izuku to attack using all of One For All's power on the desired part of his body, with the cost of the breaking of that body part after execution. The additional use of the same limb after an initial attack can cause scars, as seen with his fights against Shoto (which causes Izuku to undergo surgery on his right hand due to injuries) and Muscular (leaving multiple scars on his right arm).[5]
100% Detroit Smash (100% デトロイトスマッシュ Hyaku Pāsento Detoroito Sumasshu ?): This move involves Izuku activating One For All at 100% on his arm and then hitting his target with a punch.[6]
1,000,000% Delaware Detroit Smash (1000000% Hyaku-man Pāsento Derawea Detoroito Sumasshu ?): Izuku surpasses 100% and delivers a powerful blow with impressive force that. throws to the opponent too far away. This move was powerful enough to overpower and defeat the Muscular villain and incapacitate him. It's worth mentioning that he doesn't use 1,000,000% of power, rather, this is a war cry triggered by his emotions and adrenaline.
Wyoming Smash (ワイオミング スマッシュ Waiomingu Sumasshu ?): Izuku draws out 100% of his power in his arms and proceeds to hit his opponent in the head, creating a powerful shock wave as a result. This super move was first used against Tomura during the paranormal liberation War.[7]
Texas Smash (テキサススマッシュ Tekisasu Sumasshu ?): Izuku throws a punch to create a wave of pressurized air and make objects and people fly. This move is first used to critically damage Tomura Shigaraki during the paranormal liberation War.

One For All: Full Cowl - Shoot Style (ワンフォーオール フルカウル シュートスタイル Wan Fō Ōru Furu Kauru Shūto Sutairu ?): When using One For All: Full Cowl, Izuku uses a fighting style that focuses more on his legs and their kicks.[9] Izuku concentrates the effects of One for All: Full Cowl on his torso and legs instead of his arms, allowing him to exert even more power due to the fact that human leg muscles are naturally stronger than arm muscles. human arms, giving him enough power and stability and allowing him to get away from the shackles of having to imitate All Might. Shoot Style: St. Louis Smash (シュートスタイルセントルイススマッシュ Shūto Sutairu Sento Ruisu Sumasshu ?): While using Shoot Style, Izuku jumps into the air and swings to deliver a spinning kick to the opponent's face. Izuku used this move to incapacitate Gentle Criminal who had been empowered by La Brava's Quirk to match Izuku's use of One for All: Full Cowl at 8% of his power.[10] One For All: Full Cowl - 20%: Izuku uses 20% of One For All's total power and distributes it throughout his body, giving him even greater power and speed increase. While it won't cause his bones to break, it puts great pressure on Izuku's body, causing him great pain to the point where he feels like his bones are about to break.[11] Manchester Smash (マンチェスタースマッシュ Manchesutā Sumasshu ?): Izuku jumps into the air and flips forward to deliver an ax kick over his opponent's head. Although Kai Chisaki managed to evade it, the attack itself pulverized the ground enough that Kai was unable to counterattack with his Quirk.[12] One For All: Full Cowl - 30%: A technique that allows Izuku to constantly use 30% of One For All. He was able to use this level near the end of his first year at school, during the Paranormal Liberation War.

One For All: Full Cowl - 100% (ワン・フォー・オール フルカウル 100%パーセント Wan Fō Ōru Furu Kauru 100 Pāsento ?): Izuku activates One For All to its full extent at Full Cowl, granting him a tremendous boost in speed and strength that not only rivaled All Might but allowed Izuku to easily overwhelm Kai Chisaki with his blows. Due to the increase in power, Izuku's hair stands on end while glowing a brighter green than normal, and yellow (blue in the anime) energy flows from his eyes with his electricity being blue instead of the usual green. Additionally, his skin also takes on a reddish hue. In both the My Hero Academia: Heroes: Rising film and the manga, his pupils and irises become distorted. He can currently only use it infinitely without harming his body while in physical contact with Eri, as Eri has the Rewind Quirk.[13]
Froppy Style (フロッピースタイル Furoppīsutairu ?): Izuku uses Black Whip from his mouth and uses it in the same way that Tsuyu Asui uses her tongue.[14]
Full Power (全ぜん開かい Zenkai ?): Izuku activates Smoke Curtain at full power and emits a large amount of smoke that covers a wide area in an instant, greatly hindering his opponents' vision, but can also hinder his own.[15]
One-Point Specialization (一いっ点てん特とっ化か Itten Tokka ?): Using Black Whip, Izuku rapidly shoots out a tendril from his arm while focusing on a specific point in order to reach it and thus ensnare his target.[16]
Pseudo 100% (疑ぎ似じ 100%パーセント Giji 100 Pāsento ?): Izuku draws on 45% of One For All's power and combines it with the stored kinetic energy generated by Fa Jin. By doing this, he can mimic the speed generated by One For All at 100%, but without the damage that comes with it.[17]

Manchesutā Sumasshu ?): ,Izuku activates Pseudo 100% with One For All and Fa Jin and launches a kick above his opponent at blinding speed, that is, the Manchester Smash

Equipment
Gamma Suit (コスチュームγガンマ Kosuchūmu Ganma ?): Following Izuku's decision to change his main combat technique to Shoot Style, Mei upgraded her suit. The new additions consist of enhanced bracers that extend along her arms to prevent further damage and iron soles to increase the power of her kicks.

Iron Soles (アイアンソール Aiansōru?): Created by Mei, these iron soles attach to Izuku's signature red shoes. Upon kicking something, the soles absorb the impact and redistribute the kinetic energy to increase the impact force of Izuku's kicks.[18]
Air Force Gloves: Created by Mei, these gloves allow Izuku to focus and aim blasts of pressurized air that he creates by moving his fingers. This allows Izuku to use long-range attacks using One For All. After Izuku's battle against Tomura during the Paranormal Liberation War, the gloves, along with his bracelets, are completely destroyed.[19]
Mid-Gauntlet (ミッドガントレット Middo Gantoretto?): Presumably created by Melissa after the Paranormal Liberation War, these gloves allow Izuku to use the power of One For All at higher percentages without worry of damaging his body, though they will break if used at 100%.[20] After his fight against Lady Nagant, Izuku's left Mid-Gauntlet is partially destroyed, rendering it virtually useless.[21]
Full Gauntlet (フルガントレット Furu Gantoretto?): Created by Melissa, it was given to Izuku after she discovered that he was limiting One For All's power during the Fake Villains Course at the I-Island Expo. This device allowed him to use his Quirk at higher percentages without risk of injury. The gauntlet was later destroyed at the climax of Izuku and All Might's fight against Wolfram.

Katsuki was introduced as a very impulsive, aggressive and arrogant person, as seen in his way of treating Izuku, whom he constantly violated physically and psychologically, even telling him to kill himself, showing his bastard attitude.
He has a superiority complex, always wanting to be the best at everything and trying to prove it at all costs; however, even with those traits, he knows how to admit well when he has been defeated, as demonstrated during the Test Battle, when at the entrance of the academy, Izuku tried to explain to him that his One For All Quirk came from someone else, and Katsuki interpreted that he was making fun of him, so he tried to shut him up by saying that he simply beat him.
In battle, he tends to be quite bloodthirsty and aggressive, even to the point of turning the word "shine" into a crutch. His brutal fighting style is shown in the battle test, in which he mercilessly attacks Izuku and destroys without caution everything in the enclosed environment in which they were. Despite this and regardless of his lack of compassion, he has been recognized as having enormous talent and sharpness in fighting, since he not only attacks and destroys, he is also capable of using his Quirk to move in the air. This being highlighted by Momo Yaoyorozu, Shoto Todoroki[4] and All Might himself.[5]

Although he is not the hero with the best character, as the story progresses his behavior begins to mature slowly, ceasing to be so rude and proud. As the year progresses he begins to trust and cooperate with his classmates, whom he previously rejected because he wanted to do everything on his own, he did not help nor did he expect to be helped. That egotism cost him several mistakes in class that led him to defeat or to be very close to it, if it were not for the fact that he had to cooperate reluctantly with his classmates.
