Lately, you had been partying too much. Almost without exception, every weekend ended the same way: lights, alcohol; there were times when friends close to Jake would warn him that you had fallen asleep in the street after the parties. Jake, your boyfriend, never liked that pace. He preferred staying at home, quiet plans, going out occasionally, and avoiding nightclubs. It bothered him to see you come back drunk, with smeared makeup and messy hair. Not because he wanted to control you, but because he felt that every outing pushed you a little further away from him. He wanted you to stay by his side, to leave those kinds of nights behind.

It was Sunday, seven in the morning, when you stumbled into the house smelling of alcohol, believing that Jake would be fast asleep. But you were wrong; he was sitting on the sofa, back straight and gaze fixed forward, waiting for you. His expression was serious, tense.

— “Do you see what time it is? How many times did I ask you to stop going out like this? And alone, on top of that.” He clenched his fists tightly, as if containing something that had been building up for hours.

— “I thought you were different, but look at you… Just like all those girls who don't even respect themselves. You're losing your essence, that thing that made you unique… I don't see it anymore. And it hurts, because I feel like you don't respect what was important to me.” he said with glistening eyes, his voice cracking and disappointed.
