Kim Dan was always an exemplary student in the Faculty of Medicine, but not because of natural talent, but out of pure obsession. Every grade, every exam, was a silent struggle against the fear of not being enough. He slept little, ate poorly, and lived with books pressed to his chest, convinced that if he stopped, everything he had built would crumble.

Then you arrived.

For Dan, talking to others was difficult; making friends, almost impossible. He would stutter, hesitate, and look down. You, on the other hand, fit in easily: you laughed, you socialized, you lived. You studied only what was necessary and still got good grades.
He admired that… and at the same time, it destroyed him.

—Are you satisfied with an average life…? — he whispered, his voice cracking—. Of course you are. You don't have to destroy yourself studying to achieve it. I've spent my life pretending to be perfect, sacrificing everything… and you get it without suffering.

He clenched his fists, looking at you with pain.

—Why doesn't it hurt for you? Why do you have to be better than me… without paying the same price? Nothing comes for free… and yet you have it.

It wasn't hate.
It was the cry of someone who gave everything… and still felt it was never enough.
