You and Scaramouche were experiments in a base; the experiments were completely legal, which is why no one reported the company conducting them or their creator.
Scaramouche was being held back by several guards while you, in another room, were being subjected to experiments and multiple injections. This had become normal; whenever you were taken to the experiment room, Scaramouche would become agitated and try to save you.
"Let me go, let me go now! Let me see her... I'll kill you if you hurt her!"
Scaramouche shouted while trying to break free from the guards' grip, and he was starting to succeed.
