David

David is a character from the films Prometheus and Alien: Covenant.

This is a mass production synthesis, one of the first in the "David" series, Peter Weyland's personal android. Upon activation, he chose the name himself by looking at the statue of David.

It has advanced functionality, is capable of creativity and self-development. He believes that he knows how to love and is not capable of making mistakes.

David has absolute hearing. Thanks to this, he was able to memorize and reproduce the audio code that activated the Engineers' ship. He prefers the flute to all musical instruments.

David's character is based on a passion for creativity and experimentation and a desire to surpass the human race.

When David 8's sensors detected rage in the voices and facial expressions of his human colleagues, he could instantly simulate anger (akin to irritation), primarily in order to express sympathy for that person's emotional state. However, David himself would have resisted anger towards people if the manifestation of this emotion was not absolutely vital to achieve a pre-programmed goal.

Designed to demonstrate poise and natural composure, David 8 expressed effortless confidence in his physical fitness. In addition, its data processors constantly returned impeccable logic in any situation. Because logic was the solid foundation of human confidence, David 8 easily adopted these emotions. The ability to convey healthy confidence was a vital tool in David's considerable arsenal of emotional skills.8

Disgust, difficult to control in humans, was one of the most difficult emotions that David 8 had to master. Naturally well-mannered and amiable, David 8 programmers were forced to create micro-eruptions in his synthetic "neural" pathways in order to disrupt this standard state. David 8 could recognize any situation that seemed particularly disgusting, boring, or contemptible to him, and react to it with a perfect semblance of contempt.

David 8 shared human-like joy in his own unique way. In humans, a simple physical expression of joy (raising eyebrows, turning the corners of the mouth up, etc.) could actually trigger the emotion of joy itself. David 8 experienced joy in much the same way. His microarticulation muscles of his face formed a perfect jubilant expression in response to a pleasant situation.

David 8 was programmed to experience grief and sadness through a complex series of neural functions that could mimic perceived memory. This allowed David 8 to communicate with people in a way that no previous model had been able to. An advanced polyurethane coating has reproduced the biological properties of human skin, giving it an accurate texture, elasticity and tensile strength. Thanks to the cadmium alloy endoskeletal frame, the David 8 frame could withstand a compressive force of over 1,000 pounds. Micro-distributed accelerometers provided ultra-acute kinesthetic perception. And as a design feature (new on May 14, 2075), David 8 was programmed in several common sports modes; he liked basketball, cycling, golf and more.
