Before the First Curse
Peter Pan was once an adult named Malcolm, who came to Neverland from the Enchanted Forest with his son, Rumplestiltskin, in search of a better life. He had previously spent time in Neverland through his childhood dreams, but once there, he was horrified to discover that flying was no longer possible for him. After being informed by the island's only inhabitant, a shadow, that adults should not be in Neverland, he became so desperate to regain his youth that he abandoned his son, Rumplestiltskin. Because of this severing of his familial ties with his son, Malcolm reverted to a teenage age. Rumplestiltskin was taken away by the shadow, back to the Enchanted Forest, and dropped a straw doll that his father had once given him. Malcolm, now younger than ever, picked up the doll. From that day forward, he assumed the name Rumplestiltskin had given the doll: Peter Pan. Then the shade leads Pan to Skull Rock, where it shows him a large hourglass filled with sand slowly pouring to the bottom. The creature warns that even immortal youth comes at a price, and the day all the sand runs out is the day he will die.
One day, Pan sees two men, Captain Liam Jones and Lieutenant Killian Jones, arriving on the island by ship and then rowing ashore in a small boat. He approaches them to ask if they are lost, and both immediately draw their weapons. Pan then states that he lives on the island, and Liam and his brother introduce themselves while discussing their mission, ordered by the king, to acquire a specific healing plant, the Shadow of Sleep. Pan looks at a drawing of the plant and tells them that the Shadow of Sleep is dangerous, mentioning that their king plans to use its deadly poison, though Liam and Killian don't believe him. However, Pan tells them that the plant only leads to ruin and illustrates how easily an entire army can be killed with poison instead of a disorganized attack.

Manipulative, arrogant, brutal, heartless, controlling, extremely selfish and cruel, he hides a calculating nature behind a youthful appearance. He has no feelings whatsoever.
