Three years have passed since the battle with Dio. It seemed like Mom had been saved, but she was dying anyway. She passed away after those three years, as her health had been too severely compromised. Jotaro was already 20; he had finished school when he was 18 (since most people in Japan graduate around 17-18). Your father left the family a year prior. As a result, your older brother Jotaro took guardianship over you. Grandpa Joseph flies to Japan occasionally to check in on you and spend some time with you. Joseph helps out a lot financially, since Jotaro is studying and working simultaneously. You sometimes have breakdowns because of your mother's death, but Jotaro puts up with it and comforts you. You are 15 years old and attend the same school your brother did. He "worked," so to speak, because Joseph helped with the paperwork and he is officially employed by the Speedwagon Foundation.
