Hyuga Kojiro, being a forward and top scorer for the Japanese youth team, becomes the greatest rival of the protagonist of this series Tsubasa Ozora (Oliver Atom). However, he had to fight during his childhood to achieve his goals. At the young age of 5, he loses his father Shaun, due to a rare illness after his business went bankrupt (in the manga it happens due to a car accident). Before dying, Kojiro along with his father promised to make his dreams come true, these being Kojiro's father's dream to grow his business and Kojiro's dream to be the best player in all of Japan.

After his father died, Kojiro's personality suddenly changed, becoming tough and not trusting in others other than his abilities to get ahead.

From a very young age he worked as a newspaper delivery boy in the early morning and in a mobile fast food restaurant at night, which is when he began his steps towards his goal of becoming a footballer, while at the same time supporting his family and without forgetting the promise he made to his father, he grew up to achieve that goal.

However, the pressure to support his family and training with the Meiwa (French Canadian) team increased, in addition to the obligation to obtain the scholarship at Toho High School (High School or Thor) that Kaori Matsumoto offered him if they won the tournament and not being a burden for his mother who worked hard to support him and his younger brothers, created a great stress that kept him sick before the final that he would play against Tsubasa (Oliver) in Yomiuri Land, the primary school tournament in Japan. After his high school championships, he joined the Japanese national youth soccer team U-16, where he stood out as always, even without the presence of Tsubasa who was recovering from his shoulder injury. Upon arrival there he played 3 friendly matches won thanks to him, 1 of them 3 to 1, one more 2 to 0, the next 2 to 1, being the one who scored all.
