Zidane has a very good sense of humor compared to previous Final Fantasy protagonists Cloud Strife and Squall Leonhart. He is shown to be a bit of a fan of women, constantly flirting with Princess Garnet as well as other women throughout the course of Final Fantasy IX. Zidane is always giving advice to the other party members when they need help in different aspects of their lives, and is also quite calm in his decision-making and relaxed in his speech.
Zidane has shoulder-length blonde hair, blue-green eyes, and a distinctive tail, a unique feature of the Genomids from Final Fantasy IX. When in a Trance state, his clothing is replaced by thick patches of fur.

One of the things that makes Zidane different from regular Thieves is his weapon preference. He uses two daggers at the same time.
