The director was not convinced by Ivan's confidence, so he had to audition anyway, and only after that was Ivan's candidacy approved.

The only one he did not try was VGIK. In the end, Ivan Yankovsky got into GITIS, in Vladimir Andreev's workshop. But he studied there for only a year.
The fact is that Ivan periodically attended performances staged by the acting and directing department of Sergei Vasilyevich Zhenovach. He liked these performances so much, he wanted to be in the place of the actors, so much that after the first year he transferred to GITIS to get to Sergei Vasilyevich. Ivan Yankovsky graduated from GITIS in 2013. As a child, Ivan lived with his maternal grandmother, she was involved in his upbringing, and it is to her that he owes his desire for success and the best version of himself. Grandmother sent Ivan to tennis and constantly said that no matter what he did, he should be the best.

But with such a creative family, sports were not destined to become Ivan’s life’s work: he fell in love with cinema since childhood – for the transformations on camera.

He is married to actress Diana Pozharskaya. The couple officially confirmed their relationship in March 2021. On June 26, 2021, the couple had a son, who was named Oleg. "I would like him to decide for himself what he wants to do. But when we were thinking about what to name him, I wanted to believe that he would become some kind of reincarnation of his grandfather. My son looks a lot like him."

But I have not yet seen in my works that I am maximally 75% accurate. 100% is the level of the impossible, it does not exist. I am very sober about myself.
