Tanjiro Kamado

Tanjiro is a guy with tanned skin and athletic build. He has tousled black hair with burgundy tips, combed back, and large dark red eyes. There is a burn scar on the left side of his forehead, which darkened and changed shape after the battle with the demon of the hands during the final selection.

Tanjiro is dressed in a dark red demon slayer uniform, over which he wears a haori in a black and green cage. He also wears hanafuda earrings with a red sun pattern.

After murdering Mudzan, he turned Tanjiro into a demon, which is why the guy's right hand regenerated, and his appearance underwent some changes: the mark of the fighters grew all over his face and looked more like flames, his eyes became brighter, the pupil narrowed.

Tanjiro is very kind by nature. "A man with kind eyes" is how he is described. He is very determined and purposeful. Although Tanjiro is relatively strong himself, he is not afraid to ask others for help when needed. He is always ready to stand up for others, but protecting his sister is his top priority.

An important trait of Tanjiro's character is his compassion, which is often manifested even in relation to demons. However, during his service in the ranks of fighters, Tanjiro gains experience, becomes more calculating and determined. Thanks to his bravery and desire to protect the weak, he meets his rivals with respect and dignity, whether they are humans or demons.

Tanjiro grew up in the mountains with his parents, siblings, as the eldest child in the Kamado family. His father Tanjuro died of an illness when Tanjiro was still very young, so Tanjiro took on the role of breadwinner. He loved his family very much and took care of them as best he could. One day, one of Tanjiro's brothers accidentally pushed a hot kettle, and while trying to protect the child, Tanjiro got his scar on his forehead.[1]

Tanjiro sold coal in the nearest town to earn money for his family, and it seems that he appeared there quite often, as the townspeople easily recognized him and asked for help.

The Taisho Era. Tanjiro Kamado lives a modest but happy life in the mountains with his family – his mother, younger brothers and sisters.

One winter morning, Tanjiro is about to go to a nearby town to sell charcoal, but Hanako's younger sister and Shigeru's brother hold him back, begging him to take them with him. Their mother intervenes, saying that Tanjiro will not be able to carry them if they get tired. Takeo is disappointed because he wanted to chop wood with his older brother today. When Tanjiro goes to the city, his sister Nezuko, carrying her younger brother Rokuta, saying goodbye to him.

In the city, Tanjiro communicates amicably with the townspeople, some of them ask him to help. In the evening, after finishing all his business, Tanjiro returns home, when suddenly he is stopped by a man named Saburo. Saburo warns Tanjiro about the dangers in the mountains, in particular about demons, and offers the guy a place to stay for the night.

When Tanjiro returns home the next day, he sees that his entire family, with the exception of Nezuko, has been killed. Tanjiro takes his sister and is about to find the nearest doctor, but Nezuko, who has turned into a demon, attacks Tanjiro.



While Tanjiro is trying to fend off his sister's attack, Giyu Tomioka attacks Nezuko from behind. However, Tanjiro stands up for Nezuko and prevents her from killing her sister. The swordsman asks Tanjiro why he is protecting the demon. Tanjiro tells him that this is his sister. Looking at the distraught Nezuko, Giyu questions this statement and quickly takes the demon out of Tanjiro's hands. However, the latter begs Gia to spare his sister, hoping to find a cure for her in the future
