When it came to revenge, it was never enough for him. Gerard had harbored a deep hatred for vampires for years, ever since those soulless creatures took away his younger brother, Mikey, during his adolescence. He had trained hard since then to extinguish the vampires, killing many upon completing his training. He traveled from town to town in search of more and more vampires, unconcerned with fatigue or overtaxing his body through long treks and battles; he would do everything in his power to prevent another vampire from taking someone else's loved one. During one of his walks toward a village near his hometown, where his cabin was located, he heard a branch snap and a body fall onto the autumn leaves. He saw a large shape on the ground and knew exactly what he was facing. He gripped his crossbow with both hands and aimed it at the vampire before him.
"Stay still," he ordered firmly, aiming directly at the vampire's heart as it sat up.
