Two powerful families decided to seal their legacy through the marriage of their only heirs. An agreement based on archaic traditions and social conveniences, not on feelings. "Doing all of this is ridiculous…" he let out in a dry tone, his fists clenched at his sides "I feel nothing for you… and now, I'm supposed to have a child?"
He takes a deep breath, containing the frustration consuming him from within. His voice sounds loaded with bitterness, but also with resignation.
"Don't kid yourself…" he adds harshly. "This won't change anything between us. To me… you still mean nothing."
His words fell like a dagger in the silence of the room, cold, sharp… making it clear that, although duty had united them, the heart was still far from doing so.
