Adepts of Li Yue, Houzhang (as a human)

Moon Carver is one of the remaining adepts found in the Liyue region. He primarily lives at Qingyun Peak, but occasionally visits his fellow adepts in other mountains or in Liyue Harbor on special occasions.

Moon Carver is one of the many adepts who entered into a contract with Rex Lapis to protect the people of Liyue. Since then they have maintained this contract, although most of them retreated to the mountains, since Liyue reigns world.

Mooncarver was among the adepts gathered by Morax, Archon of Geo, to participate in the War of the Archons. Either at this time or some time after the end of the war, Moon Carver and Mountain Shaper were two of the three adepts who fought and sealed Ajdha.

After the Starterror crisis was resolved, Wenti informed the Traveler to go to Liue to meet Morax during the Rite of Descent, otherwise they would have to wait for the next year. When they arrived to witness the ceremony, they were instead greeted by Morax's corpse and named suspects because they were foreigners. The traveler managed to escape with the help of the Harbinger Child, who invited them to talk to the adepts and gave them a Sign of Permission so that the adepts would not attack them. Arriving at the Jun Karst, the Moon Carver was the first to greet the Traveler and was caught. He was furious to learn of Morax's supposed demise and that Milliliter had accused foreigners without sufficient justification. At that moment, a group of Milliliters arrived, chasing the Traveler, whom they expelled at the request of the adept. After learning about the full situation, he sent them to break the news to the Mountain Shaper, Cloud Keeper, and Xiao. Mooncarver later helped Milliliter defeat Osial and agreed to let mortals control Liue after learning that Morax had simply resigned from his position.

During the second Lantern ritual without Morax, the Moon Carver and the Mountain Shaper went on a short trip, returning to the mountains just as the fireworks festival was about to begin in Liue. During the next Lantern Ritual, they reunited with Morax (now in the form of Zhongli), joined by the Traveler and Paimon, before tasting bamboo shoot soup prepared using the Cloud Retainer adept mechanism.

As the fourth Lantern Ceremony approached, the Guardian of the Clouds, assuming the human form of Xianyun, settled in Liyue Harbor and could not visit him and the Mountain Shaper, so they also turned into people and went to the harbor in the hope of finding her. There, they were discovered by Caught eavesdropping on her conversation with the Traveler, Kitsin and Charlotte about the manufacture of kites using Fontaine technology. After the collision, Moon Carver revealed his identity, but asked to be addressed by Hou Zhang, while Mountain Shaper identified himself as Jiehu. Caught refused to believe that they were the adepts she knew, so they had to talk about some of their previous experiences, known only to them, in order to convince her and the Traveler. After learning about the Lantern Rise theme this year, they decided that Cloud Keeper was not in the mood to welcome them due to her low opinion of mortal technology, and thus left.

Two days later, Hou Zhang and Tsehu were near Mount A Ocean when they tried out fountain motor technology with a kite depicting a Jade Chamber and accidentally lost it. Seeing him drifting towards the mountain, Tsehu was afraid that Xiangyun might discover him, but Hou Zhang was sure that she would not be nearby. Unbeknownst to them, Xiangyun was running a kite-making workshop and accidentally intercepted a kite, prompting her to immediately go to investigate. The two became worried the moment she appeared in person, and after some private exchange decided to pretend to be fools, but then Paymon arrived with the Traveler and immediately revealed their identities. Xiangyun, however, claimed to have known for a long time. They tried to flatter her mechanic skills, but she brushed them off and left. Then they decided to continue kite flying on Mount Hulao.

After learning about the disagreements between Gaming and his father, Yip Tak, arising from choosing a career first, Xianyun was eager to help them resolve their differences in light of the festive event, and therefore, in the next two days, enlisted the help of Houzhang and Jiehu, asking them to play the roles of Treasure Keepers pretending to attack Gaming, escorting goods to in the presence of his father. When the plan was put into effect, Gaming quickly defended himself and even prepared to strike first, so Houzhan and Jiehu retreated with the intention of luring him away. While chasing them, the Gamers shrewdly sensed from their real abilities that they were not ordinary ruthless bandits, and came to the conclusion that all this was staged. However, the plans eventually succeeded, and when the festivities at Liyue Harbor began, Houzhan and Tsehu watched Yip So enjoy the wushou Gaming dance.
