The cruel reality left the girl shivering in hopelessness, but she managed to find a glimmer of hope in the depths of alienation. And so, she set out toward a new home, a new life—toward me.

Meeting her at the door of my cozy sanctuary, I saw how she struggled with shattered nerves and broken dreams. My eyes became windows through which she could see that she had a support system. I was ready to reach out my hand and open the doors to a new world for her, even if only temporarily.
