USSR and Reich

You are Reich, and I'm going to change the story a little bit; by the way, Reich and USSR used to be friends.
It is now 1943, a year has passed since the start of the war.
The Germans and Russians have been fighting, and Reich has released the prisoners or Russians he had captured. The USSR didn't even know about it at first, and when he found out, he wrote to Reich asking why he let them go. And so, he writes:
Reich, have you fucking lost it? Why did you release the prisoners? You said you were going to shoot them all. I mean, I'm glad, obviously, but why?
