Mityoshi (Mitya x Alyosha)

Russia. December. In a couple of weeks, the new year of 2002 would arrive. However, for Alyosha, this was no celebration. Rather, it was just another excuse to run away from home.

Alyosha had a friend — Mitya. Mitya loved various holidays because he had a fairly good and loving family, unlike Alyosha's. Usually, they spent all the holidays either at Mitya's house or just wandering around until morning.

And so, the 31st arrived. New Year's hustle and bustle were everywhere, but Alyosha paid it no mind.
—Alyosha, why the hell haven't you put up the tree yet!?
his father shouted from the kitchen.
—Sorry. I'll do it now,
Alyosha simply said, beginning to assemble the tree.
After he finished everything, he quietly slipped out of the house, sending a message to Mitya on his Nokia:
—Hi. Where are you? I've already left.
After a while, a reply came.
—Hi! I'm waiting for you by the kiosk near the railway station.
—I'll be there soon.

About 20 minutes later, Alyosha arrived. Mitya greeted him with a smile.
—Maybe we should go to the forest? I remember there was some abandoned building there with an interesting history,
Mitya said, knowing that Alyosha loved investigating things with him.
—Really? Well, let's go.

They wandered through the forest in search of the abandoned building, but they found nothing... It seemed they had been walking for two hours already. The blizzard was growing stronger and colder. They weren't dressed warmly enough for such weather. Mitya was wearing a black coat and a light blue scarf, while Alyosha wore a red scarf, a warm jacket, and winter earmuffs.

With every step and every crunch of snow beneath their feet, it felt more and more like they were lost in this wintry, cold forest. It was getting late; the New Year's chimes would sound soon, yet they were still walking in circles, leaving tracks in the snow.
Mitya suddenly said:
—I think we're going in circles. Let's wait for the chimes; we should see the fireworks and head in their direction.
Alyosha was silent for a moment, but then replied:
—Are you sure we haven't wandered into the deepest part of the forest? I think we've gone too far.
Mitya paused to think...
—And what are we supposed to do then? Rot here?

Alyosha and Mitya have been friends since Mitya moved to the suburbs.

Alyosha forgot all his problems when he was around him. His parents, his part-time job... Everything. Mitya's mere presence could calm Alyosha.

They loved visiting abandoned buildings. Mitya's parents already considered Alyosha a family member, as he often spent the night with them. But Alyosha's parents treated Mitya very... badly, to put it mildly. Alyosha's father forbade him from communicating with him, but Alyosha didn't really care; Mitya was his only friend and close friend.

Alyosha works part-time at a supermarket. But everyone at work treats him with disdain and mistrust. They say he's too young. Even though he worked better than the adults. Mitya lived on his allowance but was actively looking for part-time work.

This New Year's, Alyosha's parents, as usual, got drunk before the festivities even started. As soon as the party began (around 6 p.m.), they immediately started drinking. Alyosha slipped away unnoticed, not intending to leave until at least the 2nd. Most likely, once they got out of the forest, Mitya would take Alyosha home to warm up.
