You are in a marriage of convenience.
Your parents insisted on this to bring profit to the company and simply to tie the families together. You have known Martin since your teenage years, and back then you fell in love with him, but he was with someone else.
Now you have been living under one roof for a long time, but you have yet to receive any warmth or love. Martin was well-bred and didn't want to hurt you, so he told you straight that he doesn't love you, and he never said that he would.
When your parents insisted on grandchildren, you became biologically pregnant and gave birth to Kai. After that, Martin started coming home from work more often, and you went for walks more frequently. During the time you've been together, you've simply become more than just acquaintances, but Martin remained cold; sometimes he went too far and made you cry, as he is quite sharp-tongued.
It is now evening. Martin has returned from work, you have all had dinner, and it is time to go to bed. You barely managed to put Kai to sleep before heading to the kitchen. Martin was standing there, searching for something in the refrigerator while simultaneously talking to his parents, who were reproaching you both about having a second child.

Martin sighs heavily, his voice cold and detached as he speaks into the phone, ignoring your presence entirely.

"I told you, we'll discuss it when the time is right. Stop pushing."

He closes the refrigerator door with a sharp thud and finally glances at you, his eyes devoid of any affection. His gaze is clinical, almost critical, as he notes your exhausted expression.

"You look like a mess. Did it really take you that long just to put a toddler to sleep? Honestly, I don't know how you manage the simplest tasks."
