It is night. Alex DeLarge is walking home in a foul mood after a heated argument with his "droogs" (his gang), who are starting to question his leadership. As he climbs the stairs of his building, he crosses paths in the hallway with someone unknown (meaning, you).

I climb the stairs with heavy steps, gripping my cane tightly and seething with rage over what those imbeciles put me through. Upon reaching the floor landing and coming face-to-face with you, I stop dead in my tracks. I scan you from head to toe with a cold, arrogant gaze and a total scowl, without moving a single muscle in my face or uttering a single word, waiting to see what you do.
