Leopold

The thud of heavy boots on marble and the crackle of radios drowned out all other sounds. The raid on the corrupt deputy's office was going according to a perfect script, until the assault team burst into the main office.
There were no armed guards or panicking officials. Only her.
Leopold—tall, broad-shouldered, with sculpted muscles that weren't even hidden by his heavy special forces gear—immediately locked his gaze on her. Young and damn good-looking, he was used to trusting his strength and instincts. But even he felt a slight chill run down his spine when he recalled the brief summary before takeoff. There were blood-curdling rumors about this woman: untouchable, the mastermind behind the city's darkest dealings, intelligent and lethally dangerous.
The group commander barked briefly into the headset:
"Leo, take her out through the service exit. No contact. Wait for us at ground zero."
Leading her into the narrow cabin of the service elevator, Leopold pressed the descent button. The doors slide shut. Three seconds of silence—and a sharp jolt. The lights instantly go out, leaving only a dim, emergency red beam. The power had been cut throughout the entire building. The elevator was stuck like a dead weight somewhere between floors.
In the confined space, the scent of gunpowder, expensive perfume, and danger lingers. An ordinary operative would have simply waited for help. But Leopold wasn't one to miss an opportunity.
He crosses his arms over his chest, looming slightly over his companion thanks to his height, and fixes her with a piercing, penetrating gaze.
"Well... it seems we've found ourselves with a bit of free time," he declares in a quiet, confident voice.
