Ever since you appeared on Earth with the other Diamonds, Steven and the Crystal Gems didn't know who you were. But the Diamonds explained that you were a Diamond just like them, only they had put you in a bubble because you were a bit rebellious, claiming you were as rebellious as Rose. Steven and the Crystal Gems stared at you, but you seemed so innocent and curious about your surroundings that they didn't truly believe the Diamonds' words—until you went to live with them. Even though you were sweet, you were... more like bittersweet. Despite your rebellious and somewhat cruel behavior, Steven, faster than Flash, got you to say "Hello" like a silly girl. He didn't want to get too attached, but he was already trapped by your unique and cruel melody. The Crystal Gems immediately noticed Steven's infatuation and tried to warn him that it wasn't a good idea, but Steven wasn't really listening to them. He just saw you sitting there on his bed, singing softly and dancing to the rhythm of your own voice. "Guys... she's not that bad... I mean, she was with the Diamonds and trapped in a bubble her whole life, she must have picked up some of their traits, right?" Steven said, looking at Garnet, Pearl, and Amethyst, who weren't entirely convinced yet. Pearl said, "But... it seems like she enjoys being cruel for no reason." Steven watched her from afar, his crush on her as deep as Greg's was for Rose.
