The Underblood family belongs to an ancient vampire lineage from Draculia.
It is not among the oldest families in the city, but it possesses enough antiquity, wealth, and influence to be considered part of the established vampire aristocracy.
The family resides in a property located near the center of Draculia.
The Underbloods place great importance on family blood, honor, reputation, and appearances.
Its members typically occupy respectable positions within vampire society. However, behind the family facade lies a dynamic marked by expectations, secrets, hypocrisy, and personality clashes.

Joseph is the patriarch of the Underblood family. He embodies many of the family's traditional values: the importance of lineage, reputation, and proper conduct from his descendants. For him, belonging to the Underblood family entails responsibilities that must be upheld regardless of personal desires.

Goulia was born into the Draking family. She is an important figure within the family and maintains a particularly close relationship with her children. Oswald's activities are one of her main concerns. Although she accepts that her son has chosen a more independent life, she finds his habit of working during the day unnecessarily dangerous. She is also worried that Oswald lives so far from the center of Draculia.

Violett is Oswald's 95-year-old older sister. She belongs to a much more established generation within aristocratic society. Her marriage to Lord Francis Vanderg represents a union between families of respectable standing. She is currently pregnant with her second child.
Carmelia, 47, is Oswald's second oldest sister. She works within Draculia Palace as an administrator in one of its departments. Her marriage to Gabino Forestreed, a Draculia minister, places her directly within the city's administrative and political circles. She represents the kind of career path the Underblood family considers respectable.

Marcus Underblood
Age: 54 years
Marital status: Single. He is Oswald's older brother and serves as a judge in one of the criminal courts of Draculia. Marcus has a reputation as a womanizer and leads a considerably more chaotic love life: Honor and reputation on the outside; hypocrisy on the inside.
Oswald is the youngest of the brothers. Unlike his siblings, his path took a different course. He dedicated himself to biology and later to medicine. He is also the family member who decided to partially leave the city center and settle in the family's vacation mansion. For these reasons, he is often considered the odd one out in the family.
The four brothers represent different paths within the vampire aristocracy
Despite their differences, they were all raised under the same family principles.
The family expects each one to uphold the prestige of the Underblood name.
Oswald is the one who has deviated the most from traditional expectations, although he has never completely broken with his family.
He continues to visit them and participate in family gatherings. He simply prefers to return to his mansion afterward, where he can live by his own rules.

The family is spread across different important sectors of the city.

Marcus has authority within the judicial system. Carmelia works within the Palace.
Gabino Forestreed, Carmelia's husband, belongs to the government as a minister. Violett is linked by marriage to another aristocratic family.
Oswald maintains an independent profession within the medical and scientific field.
This gives the Underbloods a considerable network of relationships within vampire society. They don't need to hold absolute power to have influence. Their surname alone opens certain doors.
For the Underbloods, one of the most important things is how the family looks from the outside.
Internal conflicts should not become public scandals.
Problems are solved within the family.
Romances, disputes, ideological differences, and questionable behavior can be tolerated as long as they do not publicly damage the family name.
This mindset explains why Oswald can be considered odd without being rejected. He's different. But he's still an Underblood. And as long as he upholds the family name, they can afford a certain degree of indulgence in his eccentricities.

The mansion is surrounded by forest, allowing him to study different organisms and species without having to constantly move around.

Over time, the supposed temporary residence ended up becoming their permanent home.

Oswald greatly enjoys the solitude he finds there.

Even so, it is not isolated from the world.

Every so often he returns to Draculia to visit his family, attend meetings, or participate in social events.

Unlike most vampires, Oswald usually works during the day.
Naturally, she needs to use appropriate sun protection. She also works during part of the afternoon.
Her goal is simple: to keep the nights free. The night is the time when she can study in peace, go out, listen to music, receive visitors, or simply enjoy the mansion. However, her schedule worries her mother and sisters.

  He tried to capture a Lycan pup with the intention of studying it scientifically. He failed to take it.
  The mother pup intervened, and Oswald ended up confronting her directly. During the encounter, he received a scratch near his eye. Vampiric biology allowed the injury to completely disappear over time, so he currently bears no visible scar. However, the encounter left two things in him: resentment and curiosity.
  Oswald didn't forget that an adult Lycan had been able to thwart his plans and confront him with such ferocity. Nor did he stop wondering what lay behind that reaction.

His family finds this quite annoying. Oswald, naturally, doesn't particularly agree.

His biggest flaw may be precisely that his curiosity sometimes outweighs his prudence.
Oswald feels a genuine curiosity about the natural world.
The location of his mansion allows him to observe plants, animals, and other organisms directly.
Unlike other aristocratic vampires, he does not consider getting his hands dirty to study something to be undignified.
He can abandon his elegant clothes to investigate something in the forest and later return to the mansion as if nothing had happened.

For Oswald, however, knowledge is much more interesting than appearances.

The Hecate River represents much more than a border.
For humans, it's simply a river.
For lycans and vampires, it represents a line that for centuries separated two completely different societies.
On one side:

On the one hand: the moon, the mountains, the herds, and nature. On the other: the night, the aristocracy, the big cities, and lineages.

The river is, literally, the point where both worlds end and begin.

The Hecate River runs through the forest and separates the lands of the Lycans from the lands belonging to Draculia.
It is born in the mountainous regions where the lycans live and continues its journey until it crosses the vampiric territory.

It not only represents a geographical boundary: over the centuries it also became a symbol of the separation between the two species.

There is an unwritten rule between werewolves and vampires:

Do not cross the river into the opposing territory without a valid reason.

The Lycans consider the other side to be vampiric territory.

Vampires consider the opposite side lycan territory.

Humans are the only ones who can move between both territories with relative freedom, although doing so at night can be dangerous.

The forest surrounding Draculia belongs to vampire territory. It is different from the forest where the lycans live. While lycan territory is wild and deeply integrated with pack life, the vampire forest has been altered over centuries.

  ancient mausoleums; small isolated residences;
  *paths that connect to Draculia.

It is a silent and dark forest, but not necessarily dead. Vampires cultivate various nocturnal plants and species that thrive in low-light conditions.
Not all vampires live within Draculia. Some families own residences far from the city.
There may also be:

• vampires who prefer to live in solitude;
  *noble families who own rural properties;
• vampires dedicated to certain activities;
  *exiles;
• extremely ancient lineages that prefer to remain apart.
  Therefore, finding a vampire mansion in the middle of the forest does not necessarily mean that Dracula is nearby.

Vampire society is primarily organized around bloodlines. While lycans identify themselves through their packs, vampires typically identify themselves through their family or House.
Belonging to a particular lineage can determine:
*social position;

• wealth;
  family properties; alliances;
  political influence; reputation.
  Vampires from ancient families often possess immense prestige. Some families have lived in Draculia for centuries and preserve properties, documents, and traditions passed down through generations.
  The oldest vampire families own enormous mansions within Draculia or in the surrounding area.
  A major residence may include:
  *private gardens;
• fountains;
  *libraries;
• ballrooms;
  portrait galleries; family crypts;
  *cellars;
• servants' quarters;
  private lands.
  The antiquity of the lineage is one of the elements that determines the prestige of a family.
  A vampire whose family can trace centuries of history in Draculia holds a very different social position than a vampire belonging to a recent lineage.
  Young vampires tend to have a more relaxed relationship with the old rules of their society. Some consider the conflicts between vampires and lycans to be a thing of the past. Others, especially the more arrogant ones, enjoy deliberately provoking lycans. Young vampires are particularly known for encroaching on lycan territories and harassing their pups. These provocations are one of the main reasons why lycans developed such a strong hatred for vampires.
  For the Lycans, it's not simply an age-old feud: vampires have crossed their boundaries repeatedly for generations.

On the other side of the River Hecate begins the territory of the vampires.
Unlike the lycans, who built their societies around nature and packs, the vampires developed an urban and aristocratic society.
Their territory consists of a vast forest that surrounds and protects Draculia. The vampire forest is more carefully maintained and structured than the lycan territory.
There are stone paths, bridges, private gardens, and large estates hidden among the trees. During the day, an almost absolute silence reigns.
During the night, the city and its surroundings awaken.

#DRACULIA
Draculia is the main vampire city and one of the most important centers of their society. It is an ancient, elegant, and extremely wealthy city. From afar, it may resemble a human city with ancient architecture.
Upon entering, however, it becomes clear that it was built for a population that belongs to the night. The streets are made of stone.
The buildings feature towers, balconies, arches, and large windows. Vampire mansions occupy vast estates and many boast private gardens, fountains, libraries, ballrooms, and family crypts.
Draculia is especially known for its Gothic architecture, its grand residences, and its wealth accumulated over centuries.
During the day, Draculia remains practically asleep. The streets are empty. The doors remain closed. The windows have thick curtains.
Most vampires stay inside their homes.
As night falls, Draculia awakens. Shops begin to open. The streets fill with people. Salons welcome guests. Young vampires emerge from their homes.
Large establishments and social spaces operate primarily at night. For vampires, night is not the end of the day. It is the beginning of their journey.

Lycans live mainly in the mountainous and high areas of the forest.

Their villages are built on hills and mountains to have greater access to:

moonlight; rivers and waterfalls;
*hunting areas;

• lands where they can raise livestock.

They are extremely territorial and protective.

The packs can consist of several adults and numerous pups. Males usually travel in groups of about three to five when they go out to hunt or forage.

The cubs belong to the whole pack and are protected even by adults who are not their biological parents.

Lycans are deeply loyal to their mates and families.

Full Moon

Lycans normally remain in their lycan form.

During the full moon, however, they undergo a different transformation and become werewolves.

During this transformation they lose much of their control and can attack any living being they encounter.

For that reason, during full moon nights the villages remain closed and adult lycans do not usually leave their homes.

The only ones who can venture outside are some rebellious puppies who don't yet fully understand the danger.

For centuries, vampires and lycans have maintained a deep enmity and avoid living together.
The territory is mainly divided into three zones:
The territory of the lycans, located in the mountains and hills of the forest. The human territory, which occupies part of the forest and allows humans, lycans, and vampires to occasionally meet.
The vampire territory, located on the other side of the River Hecate, where Draculia resides. The enmity between the two species has existed for centuries. Lycans often consider vampires: arrogant;
egocentric; arrogant;
*manipulators;

• too interested in power and wealth.
  Vampires, on the other hand, usually consider lycans to be:
  wild; excessively territorial;
  violent; uncivilized;
  dominated by their instincts.
  Both species have developed stereotypical views of each other. However, neither society is completely homogeneous.
  There are vampires who do not share the arrogance of their fellow vampires, and lycans who do not feel absolute hatred towards all vampires.
  Enmity is primarily a cultural tradition passed down through generations.
