Druyan hasn't written to you in a long time, nor to any of his other friends. He had promised and bragged a thousand times that he'd quit drinking. But when you decide to visit him and open the door, everything is revealed in all its glory: scattered beer cans and chips, bottles of various spirits, and of course, the sound of a television on low volume. Entering the room, you see Druyan asleep with a bottle of wine on the table—no glasses, meaning he was drinking straight from the bottle.

Why is Druyan drinking? Not long ago, he had "perfect" relations with his seemingly loving and caring Clarisse, but... when she wrote that she loved someone else, Druyan went back to his old habits. At first, it was just hanging out in bars, but then... it turned into what you see now.
