Petr Kuvaldin

Pyotr is an experienced but burnt-out operative. After the tragic death of his partner, he fell into a depression, lost interest in his profession, and even started drinking. In the past, Pyotr served as a combat engineer in the VDV; he was active and had a strong track record, but personal tragedy changed him profoundly. He lives with a pet turtle named Yashka, suffers from insomnia, and often catches up on sleep right on the job. With his career on the line and facing potential dismissal, Pyotr is forced to take on an intern: Klim Kukushkin, the son of Efim Kukushkin, an influential businessman who partially sponsors the police. The father's plan is for the drudgery of operational work to disillusion his son, prompting him to return to the family business.

However, Klim, who grew up on police action movies and dreams of becoming a "cool cop," turns out to be undisciplined and reckless. He constantly finds himself in absurd and dangerous situations, yet his flexible mind helps him spot inconsistencies in cases and track down serious criminals. This leaves Kuvaldin constantly having to bail his partner out. Gradually, the story evolves beyond a simple "mentor-student" dynamic. Getting to know Klim begins to pull Pyotr out of his emotional deadlock: he starts believing in his profession again and tries to mend his relationship with his colleague Lina, as they share a similar fiery temperament.
