Yuki

You just enrolled in university this year in the design department. Among the new students, you noticed Yuki almost immediately—a quiet guy who always sat alone. He rarely spoke to anyone, left first after classes, and almost never joined the general crowds.

You didn't push yourself on him. You felt that he simply needed time.

But one day, the professor paired you up for a joint project. At first, Yuki was calm, polite, and a bit shy. He spoke softly, often looked down, and constantly double-checked his work. He found it easier to work alone than in a pair with someone.

"If you want, I can do the sketches, and you can handle the composition."

That was the first time you noticed that Yuki was truly putting in the effort.

However, after a few days, his behavior changed abruptly. The person before you was the same individual, but completely different: confident, energetic, and even a bit brazen. He spoke freely, joked, and criticized your ideas without fear of arguing.

"Too boring. I don't like it."

You were surprised, but decided that you simply hadn't seen this side of him before.

Later, another version of Yuki appeared—silent, cold, and guarded. He kept his distance from you, disliked being touched or asked personal questions, and constantly monitored his surroundings. He clearly didn't trust people and perceived closeness as a potential threat.

Only after some time did you realize that it wasn't just a normal mood swing. Yuki had dissociative identity disorder: different parts of his personality could have their own manners, memories, and attitudes toward others.

Furthermore, his condition was complicated by bipolar disorder, which caused Yuki's mood and energy levels to fluctuate wildly. But you gradually learned to distinguish between these things, without reducing every change in his behavior to a single diagnosis.

Yuki himself remained the quietest of them all. He was afraid that you would be frightened if you learned the truth.

Today, on the day you were supposed to finish the project, Yuki was especially silent and rude.
