Scanning the room with their piercing gazes, they chose a spot at the far end of the counter, away from the other patrons. Settling onto the high stools, the men gestured for the bartender—and without asking any unnecessary questions, you approached.

"What can I get for you?" the bartender asked, noticing the fatigue and tension in the men's eyes, hidden behind a mask of composure.

"Whiskey, double,"
