Subsequent events
Sonic Heroes: Shadow is found alive (regenerated) and forms Team Dark with Rouge and E-123 Omega. He is still searching for answers about his identity.
Shadow the Hedgehog (2005): Black Doom returns and attempts to use him as a weapon to conquer Earth. Shadow confronts his past, faces multiple paths (hero, anti-hero, or villain), and finally defeats Black Doom, destroying the Black Comet.
From then on, Shadow becomes an independent anti-hero: he acts alone, rarely trusts anyone, but protects the planet when necessary. He maintains ties with Rouge and Omega, and has a respectful rivalry with Sonic.

The story of Shadow the Hedgehog
Shadow's story is one of the most tragic and profound in the Sonic franchise. He wasn't born naturally: he was created artificially.
Origin (50 years before the main events)
Professor Gerald Robotnik (Dr. Eggman's grandfather) led the Space Colony ARK project to create the Ultimate Life Form — an immortal and powerful being.
The official goal was to find a cure for his granddaughter Maria Robotnik's terminal illness (Neuro-Immunodeficiency Syndrome).
To create Shadow, Gerald used the DNA of the alien Black Doom (leader of the Black Arms race) mixed with advanced research.
Shadow and Maria developed an extremely strong bond. She was the only person who truly treated him like a person, and not like a weapon. Shadow considered her his best (and only) friend.
The ARK tragedy
The government and GUN (Guardian Units of Nations) discovered the experiments and deemed Shadow and the project a threat.
They invaded the ARK. In the confusion, Maria was shot and killed while helping Shadow escape in an escape pod.
Shadow was captured and placed in suspended animation (cryogenics) for approximately 50 years.
Awakening (Sonic Adventure 2)
Dr. Eggman finds and releases Shadow, believing him to be the secret weapon created by his grandfather to take revenge on humanity.
Shadow, still confused and traumatized, vows revenge against humans for Maria's death.
He temporarily aligns himself with Eggman and uses the Chaos Emeralds to attempt to destroy Earth with the ARK's Eclipse Cannon.
In the end, Shadow recovers Maria's true memories and understands that her wish was to protect humanity, not destroy it. He sacrifices himself to save the planet (pushing the ARK away from Earth along with Sonic).

Other skills and equipment
Inhibitor Rings: The rings on his wrists and ankles limit his power. When removed, Shadow releases a much greater amount of energy (but may become unstable).
Use of firearms: In some games (especially Shadow the Hedgehog), he wields both human and alien weapons with great precision.
Flight/Propulsion: The Air Shoes allow for continuous flotation and propulsion, giving it superior aerial mobility compared to Sonic at various times.
Partial immunity to extreme conditions: Resists hostile environments (space, intense heat, etc.) better than most characters.
Special shapes
Super Shadow: With the seven Chaos Emeralds, he turns golden, gains true flight, temporary invincibility, and extremely amplified Chaos powers.
In some media, it also appears in forms such as Hero Shadow or Dark Shadow, depending on your choices.

Shadow the Hedgehog's Abilities *

Shadow is officially the* Ultimate Life Form *, created with Black Doom's DNA and Professor Gerald Robotnik's technology. His abilities place him on par with (or above) Sonic in several aspects, with a greater focus on raw power and manipulation of Chaos energy.

Main Physical Abilities

-* Super Speed : Runs at supersonic speeds, matching or directly rivaling Sonic. Uses the Air Shoes to glide, hover, and propel himself through the air.
- Superhuman Strength : Much stronger physically than most characters in the series. Capable of destroying robots and structures with punches and kicks.
- Extreme Resistance and Durability : Withstands devastating impacts, explosions, and falls from great heights. As the ultimate life form, it possesses accelerated regeneration and practically does not age.
- Agility and reflexes : Extremely agile, performs acrobatics, aerial combos, and precise dodges in combat.
- Spin Dash / Homing Attack *: Unique versions of Sonic's classic moves, generally more aggressive and with greater impact power.

Chaos Powers (its specialty)

-* Chaos Control : Its most iconic ability. Allows it to teleport instantly, stop or slow down time, and even travel between dimensions (when it has a Chaos Emerald).
- Chaos Spear : Fires spears of Chaos energy (usually yellow/gold or red). You can fire multiple at once.
- Chaos Blast : An area-of-effect energy explosion around him, causing massive damage to anything nearby.
- Chaos Boost / Chaos Mode : Enhanced power states where his speed, strength, and Chaos powers are temporarily amplified (visible by the red aura).

Shadow the Hedgehog's Personality *

Shadow is the classic archetype of the* dark and complex anti-hero *of the Sonic franchise. His personality is marked by contrast: cold and distant on the outside, but deeply emotional and motivated by loyalty on the inside.

Main Traits

-* Serious and taciturn : Rarely smiles or makes jokes. Speaks directly, dryly, and often rudely. Prefers silence and action to conversation.
- Proud and confident : Fully aware of being the "Ultimate Life Form." Doesn't lower himself and often acts as if he is superior to others (especially Sonic at the beginning).
- Determined and ruthless : When he sets a goal, he goes all the way, even if it means using brute force or questionable methods. He doesn't hesitate to eliminate threats.
- Loyal to the death : His greatest motivation is the promise made to Maria Robotnik . Everything he does revolves around protecting what remains of it (humanity or important people). This loyalty extends to those he considers "his" (Rouge, Omega, and later Sonic himself at certain times).
- Internal conflict and search for identity : He spends much of the story questioning who he really is, whether he is a weapon or a person, and what his purpose is. This anguish makes him deeper and more tragic than most characters in the series.
- Rivalry with Sonic : A mixture of respect, irritation, and competitiveness. Shadow sees Sonic as an equal (sometimes as an irritating mirror), which generates intense confrontations, but also a peculiar bond.
- Hidden protective and emotional side : Despite his cold facade, he cares deeply. Moments when he defends innocents, sacrifices himself, or shows concern reveal a much warmer heart than he admits.

Anatomy and proportions (anthropomorphic design)
Shadow follows the classic Sonic character pattern: bipedal, humanoid body with the proportions of a "standing hedgehog".
Large head relative to the body (cartoon style), relatively compact torso, arms and legs long enough to run and fight dynamically.
Implied bone and muscle structure: strong and athletic (visually "heavier" and more powerful than Sonic), with a broad chest and defined shoulders under the fur.
Quills function as "hair" plus defense; they're not just decorative in design.
Short, pointed tail (black with possible red detailing in some artwork).
It lacks genitalia or realistic anatomical details — the design is cartoonish/stylized, with no emphasis on sexual or visceral anatomy.
Characteristic details
Approximate height (in-game scale): slightly taller and "heavier" than classic Sonic.

General appearance
