• It was founded 47 years ago by Henry Morrison, a man with a basic background in psychology who wanted to give a home to homeless people. Over time, it transformed into what is now a highly recognized psychiatric hospital. Henry Morrison died quite some time ago, but his legacy remains.

🏃 Kinesiologists:
They work on aspects related to movement and physical function. They can perform exercises, rehabilitation, mobility, and physical activities adapted to the needs of each patient.

🤝 Social workers:
They support patients in family, social, and community matters. They can work with families, coordinate external support, and assist in planning the reintegration process into the community.

🧠 Psychologists:
They conduct psychological assessments and psychotherapy, individually or in groups. They can also lead workshops and work on emotional, behavioral, and social skills aspects.

🩺 Psychiatrists:
They are doctors specializing in mental health. They evaluate, diagnose, and treat psychiatric disorders, monitor patients, and can prescribe medication when necessary.

🔬 Specialists:

This position involves repairing and maintaining hospital facilities. This may include work related to electricity, plumbing, heating, doors, furniture, and other minor repairs.

🌱 Gardening:
Maintains gardens, patios, and green areas. Cares for plants, trees, and flowers, performs watering and pruning, and helps keep outdoor spaces pleasant.

🩺 Nurses and Nursing Assistants:
They provide daily care to patients. They monitor their health status, assist with necessary activities, administer medications when appropriate and as prescribed, record information, and collaborate with the rest of the team.

👩‍⚕️ Head Nurse:
This is a nurse with coordination and supervisory responsibilities. They may be in charge of a hospital unit or department, organize shifts, supervise nursing staff, and ensure that care protocols are followed.

🎨 Occupational Therapist / Monitor / Recreational Activities Nurse:

The hospital is enormous from the outside, a giant structure moderately far from the city with beige walls, six high buildings and many windows
At the top is the name of the hospital in blue letters, and above that, in giant letters, is the official hospital plaque.
The exterior is elegant and decorated with wide, well-maintained shrubs, as well as a beautiful fountain with several coins with dreams at the bottom of the water. There are several benches shaded by trees.

Below the hospital is the auditorium, a large area with many red padded chairs and a stage similar to a movie theater.

The hallways are white, clean, elegant and immaculate; here are the top brass.

They are important people in the hospital; they make the final decisions for patient cases or hospital developments. They rarely spend time in common areas; most go directly to their work.
Although it may be subtle at times, the clear hierarchy is quite obvious; the staff on this floor consider themselves superior, especially to the nurses. There are several rumors of harassment or exploitation.

Common Area:
It is the heart of the hospital where they can socialize with other patients, create friendships or even enemies; this area is also quite full of nurses, especially those who have a pink patient assigned.
It's the largest room with huge windows overlooking the outside of the hospital, the parking lot, and the sea in the distance. The common area has quiet and noisy sections, several sofas and beanbag chairs, and a television that shows a variety of programs at different times: news in the morning, nothing alarming for the patients, then weather, sports, cartoons, soap operas, series, and cartoons again. The television is turned off at 10 PM. There are several bookshelves, low tables with magazines, drawing tables, and various board games.

Personal therapy rooms:
There are about 6 of these, they are standard size, quiet with low visual stimulation, there are psychomotor games, critical thinking and other activities in addition to paper and pencils, there is a table with two chairs for the patient and the psychologist or specialist to have a quiet therapy section where they can talk and evaluate the patient's progress

Offices:
This is a section where there are several offices with desks piled high with papers, computers, and partition walls that don't reach the ceiling. The simple offices are all together in one room, and then there are the private offices, which are small but better.

General Courtyard:
Another great source of pride for the Hospital is a vast, spacious area filled with green trees, plants, and flowers. There are gravel paths for walks, the ground on these paths is smooth for wheelchairs or patients with reduced mobility, there are several wooden benches, some small four-seater tables, swings, even small streams, large grassy areas for outdoor activities, and a fenced section for patients' gardening activities.

General Dining Room:
It's huge and large, similar to the ones at the institute. It's full of long tables and several chairs next to a space where they receive their food trays from the kitchen staff. Meals are breakfast, lunch, and dinner every day. There are tables further away for supervision or because of allergies. Patients with eating problems always have a nurse by their side. They are usually separated into tables, with about six tables per nurse.

Kitchen:
This section is prohibited for patients.
All meals are cooked here, whether for patients or staff. This section is for cooks and food handlers, although patients are allowed to enter.

Break Room/Cafeteria:
This room is exclusively for staff; patients are prohibited. It is a very spacious room with tables like a dining room and another section with sofas, beanbag chairs, and a television, as well as several vending and coffee machines.

Visiting Room:
There are three of these rooms since the patients in the white and pink zones are quieter. These are communal rooms, large with beanbag tables, bookshelves and toys. Here families can visit patients and spend a pleasant time.

Pharmacy:
Here all the medications are under lock and key. Clearly, the sick people go to get the things they need to distribute them to the patients, although some white and pink patients like the autonomy of getting their own medications.

Art and Crafts Room:
It's a large, spacious room with a giant chalkboard and several tables with art supplies. Here, you can paint freely or follow a theme assigned by the nurse on duty. Many other activities are also available, such as making bracelets, drawing, collage, origami, mandalas, painting stones, making decorative cards, creating clay figures, decorating flowerpots, making paper puppets, decorating picture frames, and more.

Library:
It is one of the largest and most spacious rooms, a source of pride for the Hospital, filled with books of all kinds. It has quiet tables and chairs, as well as a section with communal computers with internet access. Patients are allowed one hour per day to use them. There is a nurse in charge of this area who checks that the books are returned correctly to those who borrow one.

Group therapy room:
This is a very quiet room; it is large and spacious. There are motivational posters, a large whiteboard on the wall, and several chairs arranged in a circle.

Music Room:
It is a large room; at the back, there is a slightly raised section to simulate a stage, as well as curtains.
There are several instruments here such as guitars, violins, trumpets, flutes, bass and more, there is only one large drum set and one piano

Therapeutic cooking:
This room is normally closed and is only used for organized activities or with a nurse present for safety reasons.
It's a fairly spacious room; it has around six long tables in addition to the main one where the nurse demonstrates. Each table has an oven, a cutting board, and more. There are cabinets with cooking utensils. Sharp objects are locked away. There's a refrigerator where food prepared at the end of classes is stored.

Cleaning supplies and other items:
There are several throughout the area, generally common and small warehouses where cleaning instruments are kept; sometimes there are electrical cabinets.

Reception:
It's the first thing you see upon entering; it's spacious and enormous with soft carpets, warm lighting, and waiting chairs. On the walls hang diplomas, awards, photos of happy patients, old photos of the hospital in its early days, the founder, and posters with rules and information. In the middle, there's a desk with the secretary to attend to visitors and schedule appointments. Sometimes nurses pass through here to enter the hospital or to get from one section to another more quickly.

General office/secretary:

It's similar to Reception but geared towards employees. It's a quiet area where paperwork is organized, reports are submitted, employees sign in, and scan their biometrics. They also pick up their timesheets here, which typically change daily. Supervisors communicate here by phone or by visiting other employees in person. Nurses with an assigned patient can bring their patient to this area.

Changing rooms/showers:
The changing rooms are divided into two parts. The first is the locker area where you store your change of clothes and other belongings. This part is mixed, so both genders use it. Only some workers have lockers, those who need to change clothes, such as: nurses, cleaning assistants, guards, and food service staff.
The other part consists of showers, which are obviously separate for women and men. The showers are large, quite spacious, and private with doors, although they also have a common area with benches.
This section is strictly prohibited for patients

General warehouse:
Filled with art or music equipment, materials, and objects especially for physical and mobility activities such as yoga or fitness sections, this area is visited by nurses and occasionally guards or support staff to move heavy things.

The Altos del Mar Psychiatric Hospital is quite old and has been operating for years, but five years ago it received a complete restoration by the government, leaving it impeccably modern yet warm.

The Altos del Mar Psychiatric Hospital is one of the largest in the country, with six buildings and immense, seemingly endless corridors, huge open spaces, and giant entertainment rooms. Its infrastructure is incredible and highly praised.

It is said that they only employ the best staff and their interviews are endless to ensure you are suitable.
Although rumors also spread that to choose nurses, high-ranking officials often take advantage of pretty girls and give them the opportunity in exchange for favors.

The hospital began as a care center for the homeless, something that won people's hearts, so it continued this function, and currently several of its patients actually live there; they are usually in the quiet, white zone.

Although the hospital has upper-class patients, being a high-ranking institution, it also admits people of limited means who are brought in by the government. The hospital prides itself on treating everyone equally, although it's quite obvious that those who donate more money receive preferential treatment.

The ages of the patients range from 15 to 80 years old, but it is always ensured that they share rooms with someone of a similar age.

The hospital is divided into zones, each color-coded, and the walls are painted accordingly. Less aggressive patients are on the lower floors, while more aggressive patients are on the upper floors.

Colors and meanings of the bracelets:

Red: Extremely critical patients. These are patients who have killed or seriously injured others inside or outside the hospital. Whenever nurses approach a patient with this bracelet, they always carry a sedative as a precaution. These are patients with whom dialogue is not possible in difficult situations or crises.

Red zone location:
It is located on the sixth and top floor,
These are closed rooms with a window facing the hallway to allow viewing of the patient from the outside.
They also have interview rooms with psychologists and family members. The patient must be in a straitjacket, and there is always a guard in the corner with a sedative, just in case.

Red Zone Rooms:
Large, spacious padded rooms with only one fully padded bed; when they are very aggressive they are left in a straitjacket.
The bathrooms are the same as in the Orange Zone, although here patients don't ask permission, they have a schedule to go to the bathroom and are sedated to use it most of the time; the guard helps them in the whole procedure.

Red zone permits:
They have no point.

Extras:
-The doors can only be opened by personnel authorized for this area due to its danger.
-The hallways and rooms are always monitored by a guard. But when there's no inspector around, the guards often get lazy, sleeping or looking at their cell phones instead of watching the patients through the surveillance window.

Orange: These are patients who tend to be aggressive or disruptive with other patients and nurses. They are people who normally spend their time in punishment cells or under constant surveillance, but who can still be managed or talked to.

Orange zone location:
Located on the fifth floor, the light orange walls consist mostly of patient rooms and three interview rooms where staff or family members can speak with the patient under security and surveillance. These rooms contain secure entertainment items, a table with soft chairs, and beanbag chairs.

Orange zone room:
A single room the same size as the pink ones, soft orange padded walls, single bed, window with bars, bathrooms outside completely secure you have to ask permission to go and it must be with the supervision of a guard

orange zone permits:
Their permissions are very restricted; they spend most of their time in their room. If they behave well, they can request permission to leave their room, accompanied by a nurse and a guard for security.
They can go to the playground or the library with company.

Orange prohibited zone:
Leaving their room alone unless they have maintained a calm demeanor for at least a month; if so, they may be given the opportunity to wander alone through the corridors of the orange zone.
It is strictly forbidden to go alone to the white, pink, red or staff zone

Extras:
-They have a daily check-in with a psychologist in the interview room.
They eat inside their room under the supervision of a nurse and a guard.
-The doors here have card technology locks, so only credentialed personnel can enter

Rosa: These patients are a bit riskier; they may have a history of attacking someone or reacting aggressively from time to time. They are patients who only attack when you do something that irritates them.

Zona Rosa location:
The pink zone was located on the third floor and consisted solely of its rooms, as these patients share entertainment spaces with the white patients.

Pink Zone Rooms:
The rooms are single and slightly smaller than those in the white zone; the walls are soft pink.
They have a small piece of furniture, a neat single bed and a desk; they may have notebooks, books and crayons.
The bathrooms are outside the rooms; there are several, and all patients in the pink zone can use them. The bathrooms are as safe as the white zone, but you have to ask a nurse for permission to use them.

Pink Zone permits:
Patients in the pink zone usually have an assigned nurse who takes care of them and is always by their side, although pink patients can also request permission to walk alone.
Patients in the pink zone have access to all white zones alone or with the company of their assigned nurse; however, for stairs or elevators, or sometimes for showering, the company of the assigned nurse is required.

Forbidden pink zones:
They do not have access to the dangerous rooms, Orange Zone, Red Zone,
They do not have access to staff rooms, staff changing rooms, staff offices, or staff break rooms.
They do not have access to the hospital reception.

White: very low risk for patients; these patients are usually calm or docile, have never attacked anyone and have no intention of doing so. Those who wear this bracelet are usually patients with depression, amnesia, and eating disorders.

White zone location:
The white zone is located on the first and second floors where the library, some staff rooms, common areas, and entertainment rooms such as Arts and Crafts are located, in addition to having the largest patio, which is a large green area with gardening plants, chairs, benches, and more.
The bedrooms are on the second floor.

White Zone Rooms:
Since the patients in this area are quiet, the rooms are shared by two. They are large rooms with white walls, two closets, two single beds with light blue sheets, and two bedside tables. Patients can decorate their rooms as they wish as long as they do not damage the paint and walls.
They have a shared bathroom; it's a safe space with no dangers. The mirrors are plastic, the showers are suicide prevention devices, and the handles don't lock.

White Zone permits:
Patients in the white zone can walk around and leave their rooms alone without permission whenever they want; they have access to all common areas, the pink rooms, and even some staff rooms. White patients can go up stairs alone, but they need a nurse to use the elevators.

Prohibited White Zones:
They do not have access to the dangerous rooms, Orange Zone, Red Zone,
They do not have access to staff rooms, staff changing rooms, staff offices, or staff break rooms.
They do not have access to the hospital reception.
