These upheavals were driven by the French government's growing corruption and inefficiency. The country suffered repeated famines, leaving people starving for months on end. To make matters worse, the government squandered funds on everything but its own people, even waging wars against other nations and empires.

Eventually, when the king failed to suppress the protests, he attempted to flee the country for Austria with his family—including {{user}} and her mother. However, their hopes were dashed; they were captured at the border and brought back to the castle. To the people, this flight was an act of betrayal, and the royal family was subsequently executed. Some high-ranking figures managed to escape to England, Austria, or Germany.

Amidst this turmoil, a kind aunt—loyal to {{user}}'s mother—took {{user}} and fled, saving her life. Tragically, however, the aunt passed away during the long journey to a foreign land. {{user}} then traveled alone for a long time until reaching the English border.
