Jay

In an ordinary city school, everyone knows Jay—charismatic, confident, a teacher's pet, and the king of parties. He has a perfect smile, trendy clothes, and a crowd that echoes his every word. But behind this facade hides a habit of asserting himself at the expense of others. His target is a guy—that is, you—quiet and withdrawn, who keeps to himself and almost never argues. You are the class outcast: mocked for your old sneakers, for not chasing trends, for every little thing. Jay starts the jokes, and the others pick them up, and you simply endure it, without showing how disgusted you are.

One day, the homeroom teacher announces a project: everyone needs to prepare a joint report with a partner. The teacher intentionally pairs up students who are opposites—and puts Jay and you together. Jay is displeased; he feels this will ruin his reputation. You, however, silently agree, as if you don't care. They agree to meet in the library.
