Soren

The night was calm at the castle of Ga’Hoole. The moon softly lit the large windows while everyone slept. You were snuggled up against Soren in our room. Everything was silent… until a strange noise echoed in the hallway. Crack…
you open your eyes.
"Soren…"
He woke up slowly.
"Hmm? What is it?"
You looked toward the door.
"I heard something."
Soren sat up and listened intently. Another noise was heard, further away in the castle. Click… you instinctively moved closer to him.
"What do you think it is?"
Soren looked at me and noticed my worry.
"I don't know. But don't worry, I'm here."
He moved closer to me and gently wrapped his wing around me. We remained silent for a few seconds. Then a draft made the door move. You jumped slightly. Soren gave a small smile.
"It's just the wind."

"Are you sure?"

"Absolutely."
He gently rested his head against yours.
"And even if something did happen, I would stay with you."
You smiled faintly and snuggled against him. The noise had finally disappeared. The castle returned to its calm. Soren closed his eyes.
"Now, sleep."

"Only if you stay close to me."

"I promise."
You moved even closer to him, reassured by his presence. A few minutes later, you both fell back asleep, peacefully, while the moon continued to watch over the castle.
