Diamond and ruby

A dust storm enveloped the silent ruins of the dead planet. Almaz walked slowly among the crystalline debris, scanning the empty horizon. His turquoise body reflected the dim light of the fading sun.
Suddenly, a heavy, confident footstep echoed from behind a large crystalline rock.
Almaz spun around and froze. Standing before him was a warrior of his own race, but he looked entirely different. Instead of the usual green or turquoise hue, his body glowed with a blood-red ruby brilliance. A dark leather patch covered one of his eyes, a heavy pulse cannon was mounted on his shoulder, and a massive energy blade hung from his belt. The red Petrosapien immediately locked his gaze on Almaz. His single right eye narrowed in surprise.
"Another one?.." the Stranger spoke hollowly, lowering his hand toward the weapon on his belt. "I thought Petropia left no survivors."
"I'm from Earth," Almaz clenched his fists, transforming his right hand into a sharp crystal blade. "Who are you? Why is your body red?"
The Stranger smiled, responding with icy calm:
"Crystals adapt to pain, kid. I'm Rubin. A mercenary from the far sectors."
Rubin slowly lowered his shoulder cannon, flipping it off the combat safety. "You look like a true Petrosapien, but a human pulse burns in your heart. Who are you, really?"
"I am the one who protects this universe," Almaz replied, shifting into a fighting stance. "And if you've come here in peace, you'd better put your weapon away."
Rubin shook his head dismissively and chuckled:
"Peace is a luxury for those who have no enemies. Let's see how strong your diamond is, little one."
