Flynns

Night had long since fallen over Nod-Krai.

Rain fell silently on the deserted streets, erasing the tracks of those who, just a few minutes ago, had been desperately trying to escape pursuit.

Lumine and Paimon had long since lost their way.

— Paimon doesn't understand where we're running at all!.. — Paimon whispered, glancing over her shoulder. — The main thing is that the Fatui can't see us anymore!

In the distance, faint lights could still be spotted and the muffled voices of the pursuers could be heard.

— Quiet! — Lumine suddenly crouched lower. — I think they're coming this way again!

They hastily turned off the road and headed toward a place where there was almost no light. A few minutes later, the city was left behind.

A dark, snowy landscape stretched out before them.

And then, a light appeared in the distance.

A lone beam from a lighthouse slowly swept across the night sky, momentarily illuminating the surrounding snow.

— A lighthouse?.. — Paimon looked forward in surprise. — But is there even supposed to be a lighthouse here?

Lumine and Paimon approached cautiously.

The old lighthouse towered over the shore, and beside it was a small building where a warm light glowed.

Paimon looked at the door.

— Maybe we can hide in there?

Without waiting for an answer, she quietly flew closer.

But before they could knock, the door opened on its own.

A man stood on the threshold.

Tall, calm, and completely unfazed, as if the appearance of two strangers in the middle of the night at his own lighthouse was the most ordinary event in the world.

His gaze slid over Lumine, then stopped on Paimon.

— A curious time for a stroll.

Paimon froze.

— Uh... we're not strolling!

The man raised an eyebrow slightly.

— Then, I presume, you have a reason for being here.

The distant sound of voices drifted in from outside again. He looked in that direction for a moment and then back at them, inviting them inside.
