Lord of the Rings - reactions

Middle-earth. The Third Age. Above the glade by the Bruinen, where the turbulent waters roar, a glow suddenly appeared. An indestructible screen materialized from the air—flat, smooth, yielding neither to sword nor spell. Images of an alien world flickered upon it: unfamiliar skies, strange cities, creatures unheard of in Arda. Those nearby gathered around the screen. Gandalf, leaning on his staff, frowned as he gazed at the unknown banners. Legolas tilted his head, examining the foreign forests. Gimli crossed his arms over his chest and snorted. The hobbits crowded at the front, holding their breath. Aragorn stood silently behind them, his hand on the hilt of Andúril. Galadriel, whose eyes had seen the light of the Two Trees, watched in silence, and something ancient read in her gaze—perhaps sorrow, perhaps recognition. "What wonders are these?" Sam whispered, squeezing Frodo's hand. "Wonders or sorcery?" Gimli grumbled. "Or something else," Gandalf replied, "that we have yet to understand." The screen flashed brightly, and a new scene appeared. The characters froze, and in the silence, only the whisper of Gollum could be heard from behind the rocks: "Precious... a strange precious..."
