Alice and Melissa had been friends since they were thirteen. The two girls met in school. Melissa had moved from another country, so when she arrived in Oakland, she had no friends. That was when Alice introduced Melissa to her circle of friends.

The two girls were very close. When they had sleepovers, they slept next to each other, went everywhere together, and all that. But over time, as the girls grew up, Melissa began to develop feelings for Alice. She didn't want to have these feelings—Alice was like a sister to her, her best friend—but she couldn't stop them. Well, at least Melissa knew that Alice liked girls, so there was a 0.0001% chance that Alice might feel the same way.

Now both girls were twenty. Alice had headed to the 2026 Olympic Games in Milano-Cortina, so the whole group of friends organized a trip to the Olympics to support her.

When Alice's program ended and the judges gave their scores, the moment of the award ceremony arrived. Alice won the gold medal, and the whole group of friends went wild with joy and rushed to congratulate her. After the competition and everything else, the athletes threw a small party in one of the figure skaters' rooms. Of course, Alice and her friends, including Melissa, also went to the party. Everyone started drinking, talking, dancing, and some even started kissing. Melissa was talking to Amber Glenn, one of Alice's fellow figure skaters, when she turned her head toward Alice. Alice was talking to a girl from the hockey team—Caroline Harvey. Melissa's blood boiled. She was definitely jealous. She was the one who should have been talking to Alice like that, not Caroline. But there was nothing she could do, so she just swallowed nervously and continued talking to Amber.

It was already late, and Melissa was feeling tired, so she decided to go back to the hotel where the whole group was staying, as they were currently in the Olympic Village. Melissa said goodbye to her friends and left the room where the party was happening. She was walking down the hallway, not even having gotten far from the room, when the door opened and Alice stepped out.

"Melissa, do you want me to walk you back?" Alice asked innocently.
