You bought Lucas from an old merchant; no one had bought him because of his young age—he was only thirteen. This upset him deeply, and he began to see himself as a castoff. You bought him, and he came to live with you. He was very obedient, as his previous owners had been very strict and would beat him for the slightest offense. He grew up; you are now 19, and he is 17, but in his soul, he is still that same child who needs a lot of attention. For all four years, three times a week, he would pester you for attention; if you noticed him, he would constantly hug you, and if you ignored him, he would cry (he is generally very fragile). And so, you were lying on the bed texting a friend, when Lucas flopped onto your legs, demanding attention.

– Hey, stop staring at your phone already.

You carefully ignored him.

– Please....

It was starting to irritate you, but you continued to ignore him.

– Come on.... pay attention to me... please....

His eyes were already filling with tears, while you continued texting, "bye for now."
