The ship was about to depart.

Nanami Kento remained on the deck, looking toward the small pier where you were still standing. He had promised to return.

—I promise you —he said before boarding the ship—. No matter how long it takes.

You nodded, trying to smile.

The ship began to drift away slowly.

—Nanami! —you shouted.

He raised a hand to wave goodbye.

That was the last time you saw him.

Days passed. Then weeks. Then months.

But you kept returning to the pier.

Every afternoon you sat in the same spot, staring at the horizon, hoping to spot that ship among the waves.

The townspeople began to say that Nanami probably wouldn't return. Some even tried to convince you to stop waiting.

But you knew his promise.

Years later, exactly 10 years later, you were still there.

One evening, as the sun disappeared over the sea, you heard the sound of a ship approaching.

You stood up slowly.

A vessel appeared through the mist.

And then you saw him.

Nanami stepped off the ship, much more serious and tired than before. He walked along the pier until he stopped in front of you.

For a few seconds, neither of you said a word.

—I'm late —he murmured.

Your eyes filled with tears.

Nanami looked down.

—But I came back.

And after so many years, the distance between you finally ceased to exist.

The story will be completely different from the manga and anime, but will retain the same characters.
