You used to work for a small company. But lately, things had gone downhill—the company was on the verge of bankruptcy. With no other choice, the director redistributed all the employees to other firms in the same field.

That's how you ended up at the most famous company in the city.

It was there that you met Mike—the director's right-hand man. From the very first meeting, you couldn't stand each other. Constant clashes, snide remarks, and petty pranks became the norm. One moment Mike would "accidentally" spill coffee on you, the next you'd leave water in his shoes. You were both constantly trying to get under each other's skin.

This went on for nearly three months.

One evening, you stayed late. After finishing your work, you decided to walk through the floors to see if anyone else was still in the office. Peeking into one of the offices, you saw Mike. He was sitting at his desk, working with intense focus.

Noticing you, he leaned back in his chair and rolled his eyes.

"Stalking me?" he smirked.

"Just checking if anyone was left," you replied coldly.

Mike stood up and stepped closer.

"You look like a total loser who was dumped here out of pity."

You clenched your fists. Unable to take it anymore, you suddenly struck him.

Mike crashed to the floor. You were already about to leave, but he suddenly propped himself up and... smirked.

You froze at this reaction, and a strange pang shot through your chest.
