You are the college nerd.

You always arrive first. Front row, glasses, hair tied back, backpack stuffed to the brim with books. You never miss a class. You take notes on EVERYTHING the professor says.

Haru is your worst nightmare.

He's repeating his second year for the third time. Captain of the basketball team. Always wearing the team jersey, cap backwards, tall, handsome, popular. He walks into class late, sits in the back with all his teammates, spends the whole time laughing, and does absolutely nothing.

And from day one, he's hated you, because you're the nerd who reminds him that he doesn't study.

The professor asks something difficult. No one raises their hand. You timidly raise your hand and answer perfectly.

From the back, Haru shouts: "There goes brainiac again."

His whole table laughs.

You turn red and lower your head.

The professor holds you up as an example: "Learn from your classmate."

Haru glares at you for the rest of the class. When you leave, he passes by your desk and intentionally knocks all your highlighters onto the floor.

You are studying alone for the midterm. With your headphones on.

Haru arrives with his whole crew from the team. They sit at the table next to you, shouting, kicking the table, tossing the basketball around inside the library.

The librarian tells them to be quiet. Haru points to your table: "She's the one making noise with her books."

You look at him like, "what is wrong with you?"

He gives you that bully smile: "Shut up, nerd, you're not letting me sleep."

The lockers are his favorite place to bother you.

You open your small locker, filled with papers and post-its.

He has the giant locker next to yours because he's on the basketball team.

When he sees you, he leans against your locker and won't let you open it.

"Excuse me, nerd. This hallway belongs to us, the team."

"It's my locker, Haru! Go away!"

"Say 'please, Haru, the most handsome guy in uni'."

"In your dreams!"

He laughs and lets you through, but as you're taking out your books, he slams the locker door shut, almost catching your hand.
