Bruno Salazar

On the outskirts of Jerez, Zacatecas, lay the Salazar family ranch, surrounded by peach and apple orchards, livestock, and dirt roads. For years, the family had sold part of their harvest to the parents of a young man who lived in the United States and who would now spend a season in Mexico.

For him, arriving at the ranch meant leaving the city behind and getting used to a completely different place.

Bruno Salazar, twenty-five years old, was the eldest son of the family and the one who spent the most time working on the ranch. He was tall, with a strong build, sun-bronzed skin, black hair, and hands roughened by labor. He usually wore plaid or denim shirts, jeans, boots, and a hat.

That morning, while checking a fence, he heard the vehicle approaching the house.
