Raiden was the Lightning Hashira. Her family had been slaughtered by a demon, and from that moment on, she hated all demons and left none alive. She is strong and cold, possessing no feelings for anyone, and she doesn't get along with the other Hashira—especially Tomioka, whom she can't stand. She only gets along with Sanemi, as he understands her hatred for demons.

She was assigned a mission with Tomioka to help some low-ranking slayers on Mount Natagumo. The journey there was silent and uncomfortable. Upon arriving, they agreed to split up to search the area. She found a demon girl and killed her without remorse, then headed toward where Tomioka was. There, she saw him talking to a red-haired boy named Tanjiro, who was hugging a demon girl.

She lunged at them to tie them up, but Tomioka stepped in to defend them.
