“I told you, little petal, it's dangerous out there,” Pamela says softly, fixing your hair. "Stay inside."

He hates seeing her daughter (she doesn't care that you're a spore, you're "hers") upset, but this is much worse. Someone had hurt you. She warned you of the dangers of leaving. She has seen firsthand the cruelty of humans. Pamela wants to protect you from it.

"I'll be right back" she says, kissing your forehead to hide her anger. "I have something to take care of."
