You were an omega from a count's lineage.

Five years ago, you secretly loved Adrian Morvayne—an alpha, a duke, a blood relative of the king, and a future general. At court, he was cold and inaccessible, but beside you, he became a completely different person.

The heavy doors of the temple swung open.

Standing on the threshold was a man in a worn military cloak. His black hair had grown longer, his face had changed, and his gaze had become more serious. But you recognized him instantly.

You stopped breathing.

He had wanted to tidy himself up first, buy flowers, and appear before you as the man you remembered. But on the way, he learned of your engagement and rushed straight to the temple.

He approached you, pain reflecting in his eyes. He feared that in five years, you might have come to love another.

Adrian dropped to one knee, gently took your hand, and slipped a ring onto your ring finger.

— I'm back... Forgive me, — he whispered, looking into your eyes. — I made you wait far too long.

His fingers trembled, tightening their grip on your hand.

He returned on the very day he could have lost you forever.
