— Why is this so important to you?

He took a deep breath.

— Because I like you.

You were surprised.

Seongje looked away, clearly trying to hide his nervousness.

— I know he was important to you…

He looked at Baekjin for a few seconds.

— But I don't want to compete with someone from your past.

Before you could respond, some Union members entered the room warning that there were problems outside.

— Stay with me.

You nodded.

After everything was over, you found Seongje alone in the hallway.

— Were you serious?

— About liking you?

You smiled.

— Then maybe I like you too.

His eyes widened for a moment.

He laughed softly and turned his face away.

— You took a long time to notice.

You held his hand.

Seongje looked at your hands and smiled.

— So… is it my turn to be by your side now?

You nodded.

On the other side of the hallway, Baekjin watched in silence.

And Seongje noticed.

But, this time, he didn't look away.

He squeezed your hand and continued walking beside you.

— I'm not going to let the past get in the way of what could happen between us.
